📄 SMS Consent Compliance Policy

Effective Date: July 10th, 2025

Allison is a software platform that helps residential and commercial cleaning businesses manage operations, including scheduling and sending SMS appointment reminders to their customers.

SMS reminders are entirely optional. Cleaning businesses using Allison must obtain separate, explicit consent from their customers before sending any SMS communications. Consent cannot be bundled with general agreements, intake forms, or terms of service.

To ensure responsible use of SMS messaging, Allison enforces a clear, standardized opt-in policy for all users who send messages through our platform.

✅ How Consent Is Collected

Allison users (cleaning businesses) are required to collect standalone, unbundled consent before sending SMS messages. Consent is obtained in one of two ways:

1. Verbal Consent

Consent may be collected during a phone call, in-person conversation, or video meeting using the following script:

Verbal Opt-In Script:
“Hi [Customer Name], to help you stay updated about your cleaning appointments, we can send you SMS reminders and updates. Do we have your permission to text you at this number?”

(Wait for a clear “Yes.”)

“Thanks! You can reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe.”

After receiving consent, the business must log the following in the Allison platform:

  • Customer name

  • Phone number

  • Date and time of consent

  • Name of team member who collected it

2. Email-Based Consent

Alternatively, consent can be gathered via email. Allison provides the following template:

Subject: Confirming Text Message Consent

Hi [Customer Name],

We’d love to send you reminders and updates about your upcoming cleaning services via text message. Do we have your permission to text you at [XXX-XXX-XXXX]?

Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time.

Just reply "Yes" to confirm.

— [Cleaning Business Name]

When a customer replies affirmatively, the business must log:

  • Email reply content

  • Phone number

  • Date and time consent was given

  • Name of the team member logging it

🛠 How the Opt-In Process Works (Step-by-Step)

Allison does not collect SMS consent directly. Each cleaning business using our platform is required to follow a documented workflow and log opt-ins on a per-customer basis.

🗣 Verbal Consent Flow

  1. Customer is informed of SMS reminders during a live call or meeting using the approved script.

  2. Customer responds with an explicit "Yes."

  3. Team member logs the interaction in the Allison dashboard, including:

    • Customer name

    • Phone number

    • Date and time of consent

    • Team member name

✉️ Email Consent Flow

  1. Business sends the customer a pre-approved consent email.

  2. Customer replies with “Yes” or equivalent consent.

  3. Team member logs the consent response into the Allison dashboard.

🔁 Opt-Out Instructions

All SMS messages sent via Allison include opt-out instructions:

“You’re subscribed to cleaning reminders from [Business Name]. Reply STOP to unsubscribe. Msg & data rates may apply.”

Replying STOP immediately unsubscribes the customer and blocks further texts.

📄 User Responsibility

By enabling SMS features, Allison users agree to the following, as outlined in our Terms of Service:

“By enabling or using SMS features in Allison, you represent and warrant that your customers have separately and explicitly consented to receive SMS communications from your business, and that consent is not a condition of using your services. You agree to comply with all applicable laws including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). Allison is not liable for any misuse of SMS features by its users.”
